Omar El Abd, MD

Dr. El Abd is a nationally renowned Interventional Spine Physiatrist. He is specialized in the diagnosis and conservative treatment of painful spine conditions.

Dr. El Abd is chosen yearly in the Boston Top Doctors since 2015 by Castle Connolly and since 2017 in Boston Magazine since 2017.

Dr. El Abd completed residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Montefiore Medical Center/ Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He subsequently completed fellowship training in interventional Spine at The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

In 2003 he joined the Harvard Medical School as an Instructor and in 2011 he became an assistant professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He was the director of interventional spine at Newton Wellesley Hospital 2004-2014 and he developed the interventional spine program at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Framingham in 2011.

In January 2014 Dr. El Abd moved to private practice and opened Newton Wellesley Interventional Spine, LLC in Wellesley to be able to serve the community more efficiently.

Dr. El Abd is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as Pain Management.

Dr. El Abd conducted research and has numerous publications in the peer reviewed
medical journals.

Dr. Elabd lectured locally, nationally and internationally on management of painful spine conditions.

Dr. El Abd has special interest in prevention of painful spine problems and healthy living.

Dr. El Abd’s philosophy consists of prompt evaluation and management of spine conditions using evidence based methods of management. He is also conscious about the cost of health care. Evaluating the patients and performing procedures in the office saves the patients and the healthcare system the high expenses of hospitals facility fees. This is especially relevant to the patients when they have high deductible insurances. This also relevant to the primary care doctors if their patients have HMO coverage. The reduction in costs does not affect quality as Dr. El Abd sticks to the highest level of management and he has lectured and published research on the prevention of complications of spinal procedures.

Lorraine Gomba, MD

Dr. Gomba is a board certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist.

She has more than 20 years experience in conservative management of painful musculoskeletal and spinal conditions. She is an expert in soft tissue and joints injections. Dr. Gomba has vast experience in headache and pain management using Botox. She also provides alternative pain management with acupuncture.

Dr. Gomba graduated from the State University of New York Health Science Center Medical School at Syracuse. She completed her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at Tufts Medical Center. She has previously worked at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Mass General Physicians Organization, Newton Wellesley Hospital Spine Center, and Dedham Medical Associates. She is currently affiliated with Newton Wellesley Hospital and Brigham at Faulkner Hospital.

Tracey Crossman, PA

Ms.Tracey Crossman joined NWISPINE in January 2019. She graduated from Regis College in 1996 with Bachelor's in Chemistry. She received Master's degree from Massachussetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She practiced from 2008 to 2018 in the field of vascular interventional radiology, Framingham MA. She currently continues to travel to military bases and reserve centers, for routine and deployment -related medical service events for all branches of the United States Armed Forces.
