We believe that the first step in treatment of spinal pain is accurate diagnosis. To obtain the correct diagnosis, Dr. El Abd will examine the patients in the office, review the relevant medical records, imaging findings and formulate a treatment plan. The treatment plan involves a step-wise approach, beginning with the least invasive treatment options and then graduating to more involved procedures if the pain persists. Dr. El Abd is a physiatrist  and his goal is to help patients reduce their pain and resume function at their maximum potential as soon as possible. Treatment can be in the form of physical therapy, medications to relieve inflammation and pain, interventional procedures performed at the office or in the hospital (Dr. El Abd is affiliated with Newton Welleley Hosiptal). If necessary patients will be referred promptly for surgical management. Dr. El Abd is well known in the Boston area for his diagnostic skills and techniques in performing fluoroscopic guided spinal procedures, he lectures locally, nationally and internationally and actively publishes articles and book chapters on these procedures.
