There are primarily two approaches to changing an organization. One is Piecemeal, and the other
is Transformational.  

“Piecemeal”: This is when a consulting firm sells a client a solution that the client will not be able to sustain. Usually the client asks for a series of process improvement solutions that he or she hopes will change the company. The consultant knows (sometimes, sometimes not) from experience that a process improvement here, process improvement there is not sufficient to meet the client’s
desired outcome.  

Transformational: In transformational change, “the least understood and most complex type change facing organization is the radical shift from one state of being to another, so significant that it requires a shift of the culture behavior and mindset to implement successfully and sustain over time.”
