So you ask, “What is a Doula?”  

Well, a Doula gives encouragement, reassurance, physical support, information and guidance to both mother and partner before and during labor, at birth, and postpartum. A licensed massage therapist Doula uses specialized massage techniques that lessen pain and help labor progress in hopes to decrease the chance of a C-section.

One reason why I’m a Doula today is to give back to my community. My philosophy is to “Create a Positive Environment, For a Positive Experience, and a Positive Outcome!!!” Look over these packages and contact me for a consultation so you can reap the benefits of a doula supported birth.

Having an Epidural?

A doula can still play an important role in the delivery and birth. You will need continuous physical and emotional support before and after you receive the epidural. At times epidurals may only take partially. Once you receive your epidural, the Doula helps with in bed positioning to keep the labor progressing. She also assists with relaxation techniques, support for the partner, answers questions, assists with pushing and initial breastfeeding.

How Your Partner Benefits

Remember, this is a special time for you and your partner. Your partner most likely does not have specialized training in assisting a woman through labor. This alone is a good reason to hire a Doula. I will teach him to assist you. We both will work together as a team. Your partner will be there emotionally for you, holding your hand and reassuring you with my guidance and education. I will include him with everything we do from dancing and breathing including cutting the cord.
