Have you been asked Questions on an Employment Application that were Illegal?
Employers may not ask the following questions about you on an Employment Applications:
1. Age
2. National ancestry, Country of Origin or Origin of applicant’s family
3. Religion
4. Marital status and/ or number of children
5. Sexual orientation
6. General health or mental or physical conditions unless job-related and consistent with
business necessity
7. Political views
8. Previous Union activities
• Questions about criminal convictions for felonies or misdemeanors ARE ACCEPTABLE
types of questions (exception for marijuana convictions older than 2 years)
• Arrests where there is still a pending criminal allegation that has not been determined
IS an acceptable question
