Calvary Baptist Church in Hollywood, SC offers various worship services to praise Christ and live His teachings. We also have monthly and annual church events that will help strengthen your faith, bond with other church members, and be of help to other people. We hope that our worship services will play a big role in your spiritual journey.

What We Believe

Statement of Faith

We believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, who loves us and gave his Son that we might have everlasting life.

We believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, crucified for our sins, buried, resurrected from the dead, and ascended into heaven. He sits at the right hand of God the Father and He will judge each of us at the final Judgment.

We believe that the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is man’s only avenue of redemption.

We believe that the Bible is God-inspired, and is the only inerrant Word of God. We believe that the Bible is God-breathed and is the revelation of God to man and is our guide for living.

We believe in the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. He gives gifts to believers and empowers us to live a victorious life.

We believe there is one Church made up of all born again believers. The Church is the body of Christ and is commissioned to do the work of Christ on earth.

We believe that the Church and marriage (one man and one woman) are established by God biblically defined. We believe that God inalterably bestows gender upon each person as male or female to reflect His image.

We believe in the resurrection of the dead and a literal heaven and hell. We believe that man is an eternal being and will exist forever. Where he spends eternity is dependent upon his faith in Jesus Christ.

Ministries

Nursing Home Ministry

Once a month, we go to DaySpring, a local assisted living facility, to sing and visit with the residents. We sing the familiar hymns of their youth. It is not only a blessing for the residents, but we are greatly enriched by the experience.

Women’s Ministry

We started with a ladies' Bible Study, and from that grew the Ladies' Exercise group. We meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for group exercise and always end with a prayer. It is a great time of fellowship and we share our joys and our burdens with one another. We have a wonderful Bible Study on Sunday mornings and we do other various activities together throughout the year.

Men's Ministry

In addition to the Bible Study on Sunday mornings, the Men's group hosts a community-wide Prayer Breakfast. All men are welcome!

Children's Ministry

Uncle Rex presents a Children's Sermon during the Sunday Morning Worship time. After that, the children can go downstairs for Children's Church.

Church Ministries Other Ministries

We support multiple mission efforts, including the International Mission Board, North American Mission Board, State Missions, and Local Missions. We also participate in numerous ministries throughout the year. Many of these ministries are unscheduled and brought about because of a specific necessity. We have supported new churches, missionaries with particular needs (above and beyond our "regular" missions offerings), prepared and served meals for various mission youth groups, and helped individuals with diverse hardships. Every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the ladies prepare turkey dinners (plates, half-turkey, and whole turkey, according to need) with fixings for shut-ins and those who may have a hardship. We collect groceries for the Food Bank and have provided Christmas gifts for needy families as well as packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan's Purse).
