The Final Curtain

Margie has been “on stage” for 60 years:

1956 – 1966 – Classroom “stage” teaching kids
1967 – 1987 – Education Administrator “stage” empowering, consulting, conducting, workshops for paraprofessionals, teachers, counselors, psychologists, social workers, principals
1988 – 2002 – Dean / Counseling “stage” advising parents, teachers, principals; counseling and advising kids
1972 – Present – Entertainment “stage”

Margie is anticipating making her final “curtain call” very soon. She feels that it’s time for her to “leave the stage”. But before she leaves, she would like to express her deepest appreciation to those that have supported her music career from the beginning:

  • Mr. Dizzy Gillespie (Trumpeter & Mentor) who was convincing that she should sing on stage
  • Mr. James Rousey (Pianist) for encouraging her to sing on his “gigs”
  • Mr. George Hanepen (Guitarist) who introduced her to Hilton Hotel Executives
  • Mr. Conrad and Barron Hilton (owners of the Hilton Hotel Corporation) who personally offered her the position of vocalist at the Hilton, San Francisco
  • Mr. Henri Lewin (Executive Vice President of Hilton Hotel) for directing the process relating to hiring her at the Hilton
  • Mr. Wermen Lewin (Senior Vice President and General Manager, San Francisco Hilton) for his supervision of Margie Baker and the George Hanepen Trio for twenty years
  • Mr. James Moody (Saxophonist) who continued to encourage her to keep singing
  • Mr. David Lewin (General Manager, Hyatt Regency Hotel, San Francisco) who hired her as a vocalist initiating an eleven-year engagement with Hyatt
  • Mr. Keith Butz (General Manager, Grand Hyatt, Koloa, Hawaii) her supervisor and loyal supporter during her eleven-year tenure with Hyatt
  • Mr. Scott Vandenberg (General Manager, Hyatt Regency Sacramento, California) her supervisor and loyal supporter during her eleven-year tenure with Hyatt
  • Mr. Jimmy Lyon (Founder and Artistic Director, Monterey Jazz Festival) for seven wonderful years of travelling the world and performing with that great organization
  • Mr. Michael Longo (Pianist and President of her record label, Consolidated Artists Productions (CAP)) for the opportunity to record

And above all

  • To her Many Fans and Friends that have heard her voice
  • To the Many Journalists that have written about her
  • And to God, her creator, who has given her this gift to share with the world! All Glory to Him!
