Dr. Edward Grochowski is a well known speaker addressing memory and storage technologies. His charts and diagrams are often used world wide by members of the storage industry. His HDD areal density trend chart is an ongoing standard, analogous to Moore’s Law chart for the semiconductor industry.
Dr. Grochowski was a long term employee of IBM, starting his career with IBM’s microelectronic silicon activity at the East Fishkill Facility in New York and later Joined the IBM Almaden Research Center In San Jose, California. His interests include HDD, Flash and NVM evolutionary trends and he has authored many technical articles on the subject. These include a series of evolutionary charts which have become industry standards and are considered roadmaps for progress in magnetic storage. Dr. Grochowski holds twelve patents and has made numerous presentations world wide, on magnetic disk drives and alternative storage tecnologies as flash memories, STTRAM, RRAM, carbon nanotube and phase change products. He is a member of the IEEE. As an expert witness, his depositions are regarded as precise, technically rigorous and extremely valuable. After IBM, Dr. Grochowski has consulted for:
