Roy's Effort at Painting

The original painting was done in 1975, the year I left the ARMY.  Got lost in my last twenty moves.

This is a new version. I had it on my night table for months.  I moved it to the mantle in our guest bedroom in December.

It is still there.

A few weeks ago, I began writing...

A Short History

of the White Man

We got ourselves banished from the Garden.

We've been destroying it ever since.
Can we expect any less from a child?
Time to grow up.
This Garden is all
that keeps us alive.
!!!! STOP !!!!
Give it another 6 thousand years to recover.
We keep destroying...
We lose!

 and later,

The Long History

of the Red Man

We never got banished, sorry.

The love of your God has
trodden down Our Garden.
We have lost it all but a few footprints here and there.
Circumstances require that we even participate in the destruction.
But we still have footprints.
Some still have the connection.
We know the importance of the Garden.
We shall stay in touch with the earth so long
as it can sustain us.

and still later,

Out of the Darkness

We sure do hate to disappoint

you all.

We were both your parents

before the "fall".
Thank the Red Man for

where you are.
We are kin, one and all, to

all that has a name, and

that which has no name.

We, too,

suffer the not-so-adept,

you might say.

So long as we have infinity and eternity,
We all have places to go and things to do.
Take responsibility for
your choices.
Choose wisely, with

infinity and eternity in view.

AND THERE IS THIS

FORGIVEN

You hunted us for our oil,

our energy reserves for the times

when we feed our babies as their lives begin,

or when our own food

supplies are lean.

You decimated our numbers

without regard for our survival.

You invaded our quiet sanctuaries

where our communal life begins.

You, who believe you’re the highest

life form on this watery planet,

destroy everything,

 even your own kind,

for wealth, fame, power;

and lose your own life.

But, we have forgiven you:

this time.

We come to you when you

visit: in peace.

We teach our young to allow

you to reach out

and touch us.

For now.

We know wherein wisdom lies.

We live the life we are given

using only what we need to survive:

allowing all others the same privileges.

You are part of our life, our world.

You may choose peace or

create turmoil.

You are forgiven: this time.

But, seek

   our wisdom,

      our compassion,

       our relation to you.

AND THIS

UNCERTAINTY

UNCERTAIN,
Like an earthquake
Waiting to shake
The earth.

UNCERTAIN,
Like a volcano
Wanting to awake
From sleep.

UNCERTAIN,
Like trees reaching the skies,
Buried so long, appear
As rocks before our eyes.

UNCERTAIN,
As the wind sweeping this way
And, then that,
And back again in a single day.

UNCERTAIN,
As the clouds, dark and drear,
Blown across the skies
Now as light, white puffs appear.

UNCERTAIN,
As the dawning of a new day.
A new day; a new world
Borne upon the sun’s rays.

UNCERTAIN?
Is it really so?
Coming, going with such surety:
Living life, will we ever know

That life is a certainty?
We devise the calamity
In the recesses of our mind..
To the peace and harmony remaining blind.

Let life fly! The faster it goes, the older I will be when I die.

to you:  "I am not what I think I am.  I am what you think I am!"

to me:  "You are not what you think you are.  You are what I think you are!"

Community brings the two into harmony, creating a rhythm that can move the world!

I am a single pixel in that part of humanity desiring to save the planet before the planet rejects humanity.

That's my community!
